Monday Sock – Socktober

When you plan on doing your blog post in bed and you fall asleep instead, Sunday Sock comes on a Monday.

I turned the heel! Not shown, knitting for 1.5 hours in the movie theater and then ripping it all out. We’re still not speaking.

I’ve spent the weekend working on the #notatrhinebeckkal – and maybe I snuck down to Homestead Heritage to pick up my towel and washcloths. I also finished the 2 hand towels to make a set.

The ladies joked that my favorite person wasn’t there, but she showed up later. I don’t have a “favorite”, but Sunshine is just that. A bit of sunshine. We had a really great conversation about life and direction and purpose. Momma Bear may have convinced me to come down for the yearly festival.

The sorghum harvest was a few weeks ago, so I made sure to get myself a little treat of sorghum pecan ice cream.

Happy Monday y’all!

Sunday Sock – Socktoberfest 2019

Yeah, yeah. I’m posting. I’ve been inspired by Carol at Black Bunny Fibers. So, as my motivation, I’m using Socktoberfest. At least I should get a couple of posts out of it.

Speaking of Socktoberfest, anyone remember Lolly? Last thing I saw was her starting to do yoga. She really inspired my knitting choices for a while and I miss her voice.

Here are the socks currently on the needles:

Striped Socks on the left, inspired by the wonderful Manatee Mo. My Autumn Adventure Socks are on the right. They were cast on for a camping trip to Mineral Wells and worked on at the drag races, Mariposa Market, and walking the local parks.

Happy Sunday y’all!

Sunday Socks – Tiny Edition

They aren’t perfect, but they’ll do for my mom who sassed me about how long it took me to knit her last pair. Might I add that she has women’s size 11 feet. She may not be able to wear these, but she has another pair in time for Christmas.

Be careful how sassy you get with a knitter!

In a twist of perfect timing, this little zebra showed up on my doorstep the other day. Obviously, I’m going to have to protect it from Piper.

Happy Monday y’all. May it be filled with wonderful surprises.

Keeping it playful

Yeah, the socks again. They’re mystery socks, so progress is regulated and I got nothing else going on with the needles. Once these are done, I have some lovely red yarn I want to make socks with. I just have to find the pattern. Perhaps one of these? (from an awesome Canadian designer)

Since this is the week of Texas working 12 hour overnight shifts, I should get a bunch of quiet knitting time in and make some progress somewhere. Someone also said I had to work on a sweater that is on the needles, hiding in a bag, and buried in my subconscious somewhere.

If you are following along on other social networking things, this may be old news. I’ve joined a jiu jitsu class.  I wasn’t sure about it at first, with the floppy paw and all that but I love it.  The drills are all legs and core and cardio.

Those of you in the know, know that I’ve been working on losing weight for the past year and it has been going o.k. Since modifying the eating plan last month and adding jiu jitsu, I’ve lost 8% body fat. DUDE! Eight percent. Let that sink in a second. The scale hasn’t moved a huge amount, but my clothes fit differently and I’m finding muscles I didn’t know I had.

I won’t ever compete because it’s not like I can tell someone to take it easy on the arm while sparring, like I can in class. I actually look forward to going to class instead of dreading going to the gym.  I think this might be a good fit for me.

Happy Monday, y’all! What are you doing today? Do you have pattern ideas for this yarn?
