A couple of times a year, I like to travel to Waco and visit Homestead Heritage. Sometimes I go for basket weaving with Martha, sometimes, just go to relax and get away, and I’ve taken all of their rigid heddle classes. I have plans for cheese making, blacksmithing, and pottery.
I could sit under this tree every day for the rest of my life. I sometimes wonder if my life was different if I wouldn’t join the community.
This trip, I went for the Weaving Extravaganza and I spent two days weaving a waffle weave towel set in natural cotton.
I loved it so much, I want to make a set with some of the other natural cotton colors. Maybe even one of each color. I was invited back when the ladies do their personal towels later in the year to do just that.
After less than 24 hours at home, I’m off for a camping trip with my husband and some friends in Wichita Falls. A crazy cold front came through and the low tonight is going to be 37. I’ve brought knitting.
Send firewood and booze.
Happy Friday y’all!
My year of color for 2018 was kind of meh, mostly Bike MS and food prep pictures. One of the goals I have for this year is to fiber more and document it more. I want to see wild colors next year.
Happy Sunday y’all!
The mitten I am working on? Hidden under the cat. /sigh
Guess I’ll fold the laundry.
After watching my mom and I have fun taking classes, Nacogdoches finally gave in and decided to try rigid heddle weaving. ( I may be
enabling encouraging friends lately – hi Mo and D!) Even though I’ve taken the beginner’s class, she wanted me to tag along.
We stayed at the Post Oak RV park in the cutest little cabin. There are tiny houses for rent in the area and I may do that next time. I finished my last Spunky Club weaving while there, so I am back on track. (details here)
Nacogdoches got me that pair of socks in the upper left corner. How true they are. That bit of pink in the bottom corner is a gift from the lovely Maureen. Socks, hankies to spin and a project bag. I also recently received a pen from Cheryl that her husband made. That thing is ah-mazeing! If I can get a link to his stuff, I will share it here. He makes some beautiful wood projects.
Happy Monday y’all! I’m off to L.A. For the week. What do you have planned?
Or should I say Happy Random Tuesday in January? I’m being held hostage by the promise of someone coming to fix the air conditioning. Because it might get to 80F this week. Homie don’t sleep hot.
It is that time of year again. What used to be Cookie Made Me Do It has become Cow Made Me Do It.
So the Holy Mother of All Crankiness is making me clear out some of my WIPs and she made me cast on a sweater. In Noro. I must have committed some huge sin.*
I might, might, do a post of everything I finhed last year, but don’t hold your breath. What are you working on today.
Happy Tuesday y’all!
* I’m actually enjoying knitting with some bigger yarn and the sin may be blaming her. However, she drug me into mittens years ago and will never live it down.
We went camping at Mustang Creek October 7 the through the 9th. It was the first time nighttime temperatures dipped into the 50’s this fall. And the only fall like temperatures we’ve had. It has been in the 80’s all day since then. I can’t wait for our next trip.
Yes, there is even a picture of some knitting in there. It was hopefully for my swap partner, but shit happens and I haven’t picked it up since.
Did I mention I put the tent up all by myself?
Happy Thursday y’all!
Tuesday’s Rituxan meant a bunch of downtime and a lot of getting stuff done that had been sitting around awhile.
I finished Narcos, Lizzie Borden, a bunch of movies, a washcloth, a punch needle thing I started a LONG time ago, and Cookie’s basket. (Which ended up being Rosie’s basket).
Happy Sunday y’all!
