Freezing Farmgirl

A little over nine years ago, I came to Texas (the state) to visit Texas (the man) between his contracts. While here, I bought some yarn and started some mitts. It took me almost a year to finish them (because young love or something). From my notes, I apparently finished them while I was hospitalized for the first time for my NMO.

I’ve loved those mitts, and they show it. Felted in spots, holes in others. They’ve hauled wood, driven tractors, fed cows and chickens and ducks. They’ve been to CA and PA and Jersey. They’ve made long drives to Dallas and Nacogdoches. Tiny towns, metroplexes, camping, fishing, working, playing. They’ve done it all. They’ve been with me for my whole adventure here.

The time has come to replace them. I tried to make everyone knit some with me for CMMDI, but it didn’t work out. So here is the start of another pair that hopefully will last the next 9 years. I’m going with the same pattern because nostalgia and I like the simplicity. I do wish I had some appropriate red yarn, but I’ve had this Beaverslide for a while.

The yarn is far thicker than what I has before, and I will finish these, but I think I’ll be making another pair with lighter weight yarn. Hopefully I can whip out the second mitt before the next arctic front hits.

Happy Tuesday y’all!

Don’t you wish that WP would make up names or numbers when you save a draft with no title? That would make it so much easier.  I can only be clever so many times a week and today isn’t it.

Go wish her a happy Saint’s Day.  It’s the out I used for being such a slacker on getting the birthday present delivered on time.  I just don’t do well under birthday pressure.  If it’s your birthday, don’t fret if you don’t get something from me.  You’ll probably get it about two months later.

Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.

~Carl Sagan

Yeah.  I just liked the quote. It seemed to fit the picture of the lake.  I didn’t make it down the hill fast enough to get the beautiful picture of the sun before the fog moved in, but I was quite happy with what I got anyway.

Go see this. I really don’t have a stash problem.  I can’t even keep two strands straight.

TMI Tuesday wasn’t that bad this week, so here we go!  (I’m saving the UM’s for a day I have nothing)

1. Don’t tell us what it is, but do you have a sexual secret you have never told anyone? Yes
2. Do you have a nonsexual secret you have never told anyone?
3. Did you ever tell someone a secret only to have them spill it? What were the repercussions?
Yes, I never spoke to the person again.  Of course I was getting ready to move to CA, so it was a moot point.
4. Did you ever spill a secret someone told you? What were the repercussions?
Nope.  Well not intentionally.  Don’t call me when I’m half asleep.  Mmmmkay? Or talk to me in my sleep.  I seem to have good conversations if you get me going.
5. Tell us a secret someone told you, however along ago, that you’ve never told. (You can disguise name or details)
That they slept with their best friend’s woman.  Eventually it came out on it’s own, but I kept my mouth shut. I was not about to step into all of that lesbian drama.  And yes, they do do drama well.

Carrie asked for pictures of the paws and all I got was the look of death.

Happy Tuesday y’all!

Monday, Monday

I couldn’t help myself.  Plus, I always love the accoustic versions of songs.  Makes me wish I could finally learn to play the guitar.  The wonderful new random muscle spasms in my hand are putting a damper on a ton of things.

Moving on…

This week’s Manic Monday questions:

  • Are you a saver or spender? Spender.  I really try hard to save, but it’s usually only for something I want, not a proper adult type of saving.
  • Do you prefer to walk around barefoot in your home? Socks? Shoes? Usually, I have socks (hand knit at that) on at all times when it’s chilly.  I’ve gotten used to walking around barefoot more and more since the foot thing.  I also have this thing where I have… and I mean HAVE to wear socks to bed.
  • Do you talk to yourself? Yeah.  All the time.

She has certainly made herself at home… including deciding that the swiffer thing was her play toy.

Yes, it has been cold enough for a fire.

Well, and maybe this:

life 002

Time for some fill in’s! And only a day late.

1. When I look to the left, I see a sleeping dog in front of a fireplace.

2. The den is the room that has the best view in my home.

3. Let it work _____. Is it worth it, let me work it. I put my thing down, flip it and reverse it (yeah, it popped into my head and I couldn’t come up with a regular fill in)

4. Dirty deeds done dirt cheap.

5. Jury duty is a responsibility that all qualified citizens must share.

6. If you have any hankering to sit on the lake and relax feel free to visit.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to  playing with my new toy, tomorrow my plans include cleaning, knitting and catching up on sleep and Sunday, I want to relax with some Tudors or maybe playing Zelda!

Floppy paw doc update tomorrow.

Hey, I need something to blog about… right?
