Sunday Sock – A Week of Color

My year of color for 2018 was kind of meh, mostly Bike MS and food prep pictures. One of the goals I have for this year is to fiber more and document it more. I want to see wild colors next year.

Happy Sunday y’all!

It went to eleven

Eleven years of blogging.  Woot?!?

Do you want to know what WordPress gave to me?  No comments. Yep. I am not being mean and not communicating.  I’m just not getting sent the comments. I tried several things to fix it and I can’t… soooooo

Besides my adorbs self, I’m going to give all y’all some stash to buy. Hahahah. *ahem* O.k. I’m really just downsizing and getting rid of a huge portion of my yarn and some looms and stuff.  Someone won’t let me sell my wheel.

In between packing and taking pictures of stash sale stuff, I’ll try to read and answer the best I can.

Happy Thursday y’all!

March is for slackers

She is completely right. Perhaps a CMMDI in March was not the best idea.

It’s spring! I live on a farm! In Texas! How do y’all expect me to knit?!? It’s been spring for at least a month now.

In my defense; A) he has weird feet, B) too many tiny squares may kill me and C) last year I knit 15 projects. So far this year, I’ve already finished seven. Even if I only finish one project a month from here on out, I’m still ahead of last year.

If Texas has listened to my hints, I’ll get a sock machine for my birthday and can rip though my sock stash.

I needed this like I needed a hole in the head. I know. For some reason, I am loving Noro Taiyo. It washes up quite softly and doesn’t pull apart. I have a grand plan for it, but we know how those work out around here.

Happy Spring y’all!

p.s. Does anyone remember what Wednesday was for?

My favorite color is…

So, umm, yeah.  I won’t be doing that 10 on Tuesday thing today.

Spinning!  During the Tour.  It’s the first time I actually spun during the tour and my first batt.  Bought back in ’09 with Angie.

Yarn sale!  Please buy it.  Please share the link. Get it out of my house so I can start organizing my stash for a stash sale.

My poor brain is having a need for clean and organized right now.  Clutter is driving me crazy. (I know, it’s a short trip. Blah, blah)

I also can not get “Jeremiah was a Bullfrog” out of my head.

I may need an intervention soon.

♥ This whole “cool down, rain, get muggy” cycle thingy happening 3 and 4 times a day is killin’ me homes! You never know what you’re going to get when  you walk out the door.

We may have come up with a name for the farm.  It is simple, but the logo is going to end up cute. The Pope Farm (heh, I keep thinking The Body Farm).  The logo would be rows of pope hats growing out of the ground. Thoughts? Ideas? Is it sacrilegious?

Happy Tuesday y’all!

In other news

Bahia grass, if left to it’s own devices, will leave little black seed pods over everything it touches. Everything. It may be good for grazing and drought resistance, but I think I’m starting to hate the stuff.  Maybe once we get the finishing deck for the tractor, I will hate it less.

After over 6 months, The Maggies remembered what the big blue suitcase meant. Texas got it out to start packing on Friday and she refused to leave it. Even the dog got in the act and kept trying to take clothes out.

I’m contemplating a stash sale.  Cookie says to just get rid of it all and start over.  After looking at it all, I may just take her advice. (on the other hand, I could just randomly start sending it out to people… nah!)

I’m going to start with my dyed stuff since the heat of summer has killed local yarn sales.  I’ll clear it out and start dying again when fall hits.  It will also give me some space so I’m not so overwhelmed by all the yarn.

Yes, there can be too much yarn.

My options for today:

  • prep for painting bedroom
  • clean
  • start listing stash
  • run to junk yard with truck full of junk
  • nap

What to do, what to do?

Happy Monday bitches!

Angie Day 5

Overwhelmed, exhausted, well fed and well stashed.  It’s been amazing and I’m not ready to summarize yet.

~   ~   ~   ~   ~

But, just because I loves you all and I am The Squish… here is the haul:

Varied and maybe  a little schizophrenic.  Everything from knitting to spinning to embroidery to punchneedle to rug hooking.

~   ~   ~   ~   ~

Some of the highlights were:

a chakra charka (happy Carrie? I’m tired, stop picking on  me)

alpaca knit scarf with embroidery

a trindle

silk cocoons

When I get back home and rested and have gathered my thoughts, I’ll have a better post.  Pinky swear.  (maybe)

Happy Sheboygan Sunday y’all!

Are you trying to tell me something?

My horrorscope for today:

Your key planet Mars is connecting with subtle yet powerful forces today as it pushes you to take a risk by stepping outside of your usual modes of expression. Anger may arise if you are uncertain how to handle this intense energy, but it’s crucial for you to move past your personal needs and think about everyone involved. You have the power to impact others in a positive way now if you choose to take the high road.

More apropos than y’all realize.

Skim to the picture if you don’t want a rant.

I’m just trying to figure out how high that high road is, because I’m already feeling lightheaded.

Despite being told “just be yourself” I can’t.  Myself just wants to say “eff you” and walk away and that in no way  makes this particular situation any better.  I’ve backed off, I’ve swallowed my urge to fire back, I’ve even waved the white flag in hopes of making it better… but it feels like the other person wants to keep it going.   The one solution offered can be done, but it’s going to make me bitter and resentful if I have to do it and the other person “wins” with manipulation.

And no, it’s not about winning, it’s about saying this is not acceptable, it’s about saying it’s not all about you, it’s about saying you are not automatically right just because you think so, it’s about boundaries and limits,  it’s about someone standing up and saying that I matter and my feelings are important too and not just giving in because it’s the easier thing to do. I want someone to acknowledge that this is effed up instead of just telling me to work it out.

I decided years ago that I wasn’t going to play this game – that I couldn’t play it – and I walked away.  It’s very hard to find myself back in this situation because the healthy thing for me to do is not play.   But if I don’t then I’m the bad guy.

It’s just been sitting there festering inside of me and I know it has to be dealt with, but I just don’t know how to do it without it ending badly.  I know it’s not getting any better just trying to sit it out either.  I’ve seen the change in perception that the other person has been able to bring about and I think “Wow, they’re good.  I haven’t seen that level of skill since (name withheld to protect the guilty)”.

So, yeah.  Just needed to vent.  I’m hoping by letting it out a little, I can back away from all the emotions and suck it up and make it o.k. no matter what.

Now for something different:

1. Not getting into that super special sock club, is not the end of the world.
2. Sitting here, listening to the sound of rain falling, I wonder if I brought the laundry in.
3. Beer butt chicken and grilled asparagus tastes so good!
4. Sometimes, putting others first is fulfilling and rewarding – depending upon who that other is.
5. Lake sunrises is are breathtaking, really.
6. Well, maybe there is one more place I’d like to tell you to stick it.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to contemplating belly button lint or maybe I’ll spin, tomorrow my plans include trying to shave more time off my 1000 meters, picking up some grilling meat, going to a munch, watching the crazy neighbors celebrate their collective birthdays (they’ve been stocking up booze for a few weeks now) and Sunday, I want to watch TruBlood with TX – we do it every Sunday over the phone!

Happy Friday y’all!
