Eye Candy! I haz it

friday eyecandy

Clean hand knit socks waiting to dry.  Now that’s what I’m talking about.  I used the last of the hand knits while I was in the hospital, so it was a long time coming.  I seriously need to make more socks.

No, they’re not being tossed in the dryer.  I use the rack for the special ones and hang the rest or steal the heating vents from the dog and cat.

Speaking of socks… I finished a pair.  It was so cold and my arm was hurting so much that I dug out the IF machine and slapped it on yesterday.  I could knit!  I need to remember that.  Now if I could use it while using a computer.

And speaking of cold… can y’all take it back?  Please?

Besides the weird OCD cleaning thing I’ve developed in my old age, that right there is why I have to clean so often.  Katie swiped a bag from the trash and Daisy has decided that it is her mission in this world to destroy any toy that looks like a squirrel.  O.o

The froggy?  She loves the froggy.

I’ve been considering finding her a home since she is still young and some days I just don’t have the energy to give her what she really needs.  But then she pulls out these wonderful, well behaved days.  There is a kid in the neighborhood that is always looking for odd jobs.  He’s a good kid and two neighbors have vouched for him and I’m thinking of hiring him to walk her on days I can’t or it’s just too effin’ cold.  She does love her walks and I enjoy doing them with her and it burns off all of that puppy energy.

On the other hand, there’s a rescue group that takes dogs just like her and train them to be explosive and search and rescue dogs.  I’m still contemplating having them come over to evaluate her because she’s a smart dog and I know she’d have a ball with the training.

Anyway… enough rambling.

Happy Friday y’all!

I spent most of the day yesterday playing with this:

the process

I don’t remember how I got to The Noble Pig, but I must have spent about half a day looking around.  I decided to try these cookies.

Yeah, you read that right.  Maple Bacon Chocolate Chip Cookies. ZOMG!  They’re so good.  How can you go wrong putting bacon in anything.  Take her advice, do not put more than 6 on a pan.  They spread a lot and get nice and crispy. With my next batch, I think I’m going to try her suggestion of sprinkling a little extra bacon on top.

Today?  Pierogi fillings.  The actual pierogi will be assembled over the weekend.  Would you believe that Texas has never had a pierogi?  Really.  O.o

Happy Friday y’all

ECF – a big hot mess

house 001

Ahhhh… this can only mean little men crawling around under the house concreteing stuff that needs to be concreted and one step closer to the end of an ordeal.  Definitely my eye candy today.  I almost needed to call Nora for representation last night and swear I almost popped a stroke this morning.  I’m all better now.

Yeah!  Texas returns tomorrow.  Don’t expect any peeps outta this house until after Monday sometime.

When there may be calls for bail money.

I’m off to knit.  YES.  Knit.  Back off haters!

And maybe make a batch of this.

Happy Friday y’all!

I think they’re trying to kill me and other random happy crap

I am appalled and saddened by this crap at Ft. Hood.  I don’t care which way you fall on the whole war thing, but this is just fucked up

Texas is in L.A., the doctor’s are trying to kill me and seriously, I feel like I might be on a roll.  Besides, the boy wouldn’t know what to do with all the half done projects if I did die*.

If it stays warm enough, this is where I’ll be working on all of that knitting.  With the shawl of comfort.  Because it’s magical.

Happy Friday y’all!

*Everyone, please remember to point him towards our Nora and her status as the exexutor of the yarn stash – if there’s glitter in it, Carrie gets it, Bev gets the Wollmeise and Joan and Cookie can fight over the fiber and wheels, Angie has a choice between yarn and weapons – all of course after Nora gets her 25% fee.  😀

The cutest little yarnshop/cafe ever!  If you’re in the Madison, WI area, you must go.  Must.  (technically, it’s Verona, WI – but not being from the area that really means nothing to me) It’s where I bought the yarn for my SYE because Angie is way more evil than I amd led me down the path of ruin – several times.  Lunch there was local cheeses from a local community thing.  Grass fed cows and goats and all that.  The salad dressing wasn’t that good, but the cheese.  Sweet tiny baby Jebus!  I love cheese. Love.  No, really… LOVE cheese!

Friday Eye Candy – WI Edition

Because I’m such a slacker and I’m finally getting around to blogging about the WI trip, I give you a yarn store!

Angie 006

This is Nora looking all smart and knitterly in Fiberwood Studio.  It was my favorite shop in Milwaukee.  I think I bought my Habu scarf kit thingy there.  The store had an amazing selection of weaving fibers and I could move to WI just for this store and The Sow’s Ear.

I can’t find the picture of the cute little place we ate lunch at, but I do have fried cheese curds!  YUM!

I’ll have more once I get my butt off of Ravelry and Farm Town.

ECF – I think we all know where this is headed…

What are you looking at?

Goood Morning! 7:33 853 a.m on Friday can only mean one thing… he’ll be home in 26 24.5 hours.

:::: happy dance :::

Yes, the little ladybug made me smile this morning too.

Friday Fill-Ins:

1. It’s time for me to finish cleaning the house and Texas to come home.
2. The dock; it’s not a bad place for sex relaxing. (not to mention the living room, the fish shack, the kitchen, the bathroom, the car, the desk, oh yeah… the bedroom)
3. I must be the luckiest girlie alive.
4. Texas is the best thing I have ever known.
5. My bleeeeep is simply bleeeeep. (edited to maintain my innocence)
6. The last time I laughed really loudly was yesterday, reading the knitvana stuff.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to not sleeping because I’m too excited, tomorrow my plans include picking him up at the airport and erm, well, you know and Sunday, I want to lay around the house with him, but we’re going to lunch and Sam’s and getting a dryer to match the new washer!

It’s been an interesting week and I’m glad it’s almost behind me. I hope the brain fog and inability to type coherent sentences leaves quickly too. (yeah, yeah Opal – I know it was bad and confusing)

I’m anxiously awaiting something and y’all know I have no patience and if it’s not here today, my head might ‘splode.  I’d have to say that was the only drawback to Texas being gone for only two weeks this time.  With the medical dramaz and coma-girl stuff (did I mention she finally passed away?), the time flew and I couldn’t work on a surprise for him.

Yes, I haz squishy and try to surprise him with something everytime he comes home.

Shut up.

Hope y’all have a relaxing weekend and catch you in a week!

Eye Candy Friday – Mim’s Tired of Winter Edition

eye fri mim 001

Things are looking up?  I just need a few days to process everything.

I cast on for the forest canopy and have 5 repeats done.  However, the yarn is c-r-a-p-p-y.  I tried to use the sock yarn from the club I will not name.  I wouldn’t be socks, it wouldn’t be a shawl… I’m considering burning it.   So, it will be ripped and I’ll try something else.  Maybe some of the malabrigo lace since everyone’s doing it?  How about Dave’s pink merino?  Maybe I’ll have to go play with some seasilk until I figure it out.

Have a happy Friday!

Corn Fritters… it’s what’s for breakfast!

Not funny? How about this: Corn Fritters, the other pancake?
